Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has admitted the club will not be able to stand in striker Romelu Lukaku's way should the Belgium international want to leave.
Lukaku is the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 21 goals and has indicated he wants to play Champions League football.
The striker's deal at Everton - who face Liverpool live on Sky Sports on Saturday - runs out in 2019 and Sky sources understand the 23-year-old has told the Toffees he will not sign a new deal.
Bolasie said in an interview with Sky Sports the Toffees will not be able to stop Lukaku if his mind is made up
"I speak to Rom [Lukaku] every day and when a man has his plan, he has his plan," said Bolasie. "You can't really stop that.
"Players have ambition, as players they want to play in the highest team possible and Rom for me right now, at his age, is a world class striker and there aren't many about like him.
"I'm not surprised but I'm sure that Everton are going to find a way to deal with it."
Bolasie suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage to his right knee against Manchester United in December.
The severity of the injury meant that Bolasie was immediately ruled out for the rest of the campaign following confirmation of the ACL rupture via scans, but the DR Congo international said he is in a much better place.
"I'm seeing the light right now," Bolasie added. "I'm in a good place with rehab. I can't actually put any time schedule down but I'm pretty confident that I'll be back before 2017 ends."
Bolasie's Toffees teammate Seamus Coleman sustained a similarly serious injury last week, suffering a double leg break playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales on Friday.
The 27-year-old winger has backed the Republic skipper to come back stronger with the support of everyone at Everton.
"At the moment everyone is just showing great support," Lukaku said of Coleman. "We know what the club is like at Everton, we're a family club.
"The club are being supportive with me right now, especially the manager, the staff, and I'm sure it's going to be the same outcome with him [Coleman].
"He's a strong character so I can see him coming back better."
