Ramos agrees new contract keeping him at Madrid until 2020

Sid Lowe confirms that the Spanish centreback will stay at Madrid, despite rumours of a move to Manchester United; however ESPN FC's Craig Burley wonders how much value a reluctant player will have for the Spanish giants.

Sergio Ramos has reached an agreement on a new contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2020, Spanish daily Marca reports.

Ramos had been a target for Manchester United, who were reported to be demanding the Spain international in real return as part of any deal which would see goalkeeper David De Gea move to the Bernabeu.

But now the 29-year-old appears to have ended speculation over his future by signing a new five-year deal with Rafa Benitez's side.

"The agreement between the club and the player is already reached and will be made official before the start of La Liga season August 23, the report said.

Ramos met with Madrid president Florentino Perez on Sunday (26, July) to sort out his future, with Marca then reporting that the two sides were close to a deal.
