African Championship: Egypt defeats Uganda, Qualifies for tournament

Egypt have beaten Uganda 2-1 in the CAF Under 23 Championship qualifiers on Saturday (Aug 1) and are through to the tournament finals in Senegal later this year.


The victory came after a brace from Mahmoud Kahraba.

Egypt came into this match in Kampala high in confidence as they had a four goal advantage from the first leg of this clash with Uganda.

It was Egypt that opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a goal that came from Mahmoud Kahraba.

As much as Uganda's Under 23 side tried to catch up and find an equalizer, their efforts were fruitless and this saw the first half ending with Egypt in a 1-0 lead.

The second half started with Egypt again dominating the ball possession and pressing for a second goal.

Their efforts were rewarded when Mahmoud Kahraba found the back of the net once again, seeing him bag a brace and his fourth goal against Uganda in this third qualifying round.
